A password-protected directory is a folder that can't be accessed unless the right login details are supplied. This can be an entire Internet site or just a single page which is in a subfolder. If you try to open this sort of a directory, you will see an Internet browser pop-up in which you must type in a username as well as a password. If you enter the appropriate ones, you can continue surfing around the content without the need to do anything extra. If the login credentials aren't right, however, you shall see a message that you are not authorized to see the content. If this option is enabled, you will not be able to open a file even when you have a direct link. The option is incredibly practical if you want to restrict the access to some content or if you work on an Internet site and you do not want visitors to be able to access it before it is ready.

Password Protected Directories in Hosting

Creating a password-protected area shall take only several mouse clicks and a few seconds if you host your websites inside a hosting account with our company. You'll not need to do anything complicated - you'll have to select a domain/subdomain, to select which folder under it has to be secured, and then to input the login name and password which will be used to access that folder. When a number of individuals need their own login details, there will not be a problem to make a variety of different usernames with access to the very same folder. All secured folders shall appear with a padlock icon within the File Manager section, so you shall always know where this function is active. If you want to disable the security feature for any folder, you can deactivate it from the very same section of the Control Panel in which you have enabled it.
